Aristos is a Greek-Mediterranean restaurant that opened in September 2009. It’s in its third incarnation as a sit down restaurant, being a body shop and Hardee’s before then. They did a marvelous job rehabbing the place. Aristos is cozy and prettily decorated with faux stone and wood accents.
With help from family, Egyptian-born Samy Youssef, who studied cooking in France and also runs the Main Cafe in downtown Stillwater, is turning out a menu heavy on hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, salads and stews like the tasty foule medumas. You could easily make a meal of these little dishes.
But there also are lots of entrees to consider, including all the Greek favorites (pastitsio, moussaka, souvlaki), steaks, shrimp and pasta. For those who can’t make up their minds, there’s an excellent mixed grill with three types of kebabs (chicken, pork and a mix of ground beef and lamb).
