The Fall season is a beautiful time of year here in the St. Croix Valley. Visit Stillwater and watch as the trees change color to crisp yellows, oranges and reds along the riverfront. There are many events to enjoy during the month of October including apple-picking and hayrides at the local apple orchards, tours of the vineyards, jazz music at the Fall Colors Fine Art & Jazz Fest and of course, plenty of shopping along Main Street in downtown Stillwater.

The Stillwater Art Guild Gallery, 402 N. Main Street, announces an equine art show featuring the work of some of Minnesota’s finest equine artists. Over 15 exceptional guest artists will have their work on display. All types of horse disciplines will be represented – from English to Western to Native American to working horses. Mediums will include classic oils; watercolor; acrylic; pencil; photography; bronze; sculpture, and more to be announced. Reception, Sat. Oct. 5th.

FALL COLORS FINE ART & JAZZ FEST
This 29th annual event, Oct 5-6, Sat/Sun from 10AM-5PM, draws people into Stillwater to enjoy jazz while shopping a for art. The backdrop for this event is the St. Croix River and the north end of Lowell Park/Main Street. Over 80 artists will be participating in this juried fine art show. The musical line-up is: Crankshaft from 12N-2PM on Saturday, followed by RAMM with Paul Mayasich from 3-5PM. Tour the areas of the Historic Washington County Court House, 101 W. Pine St., that are closed to the public 364 days of the year. Visit the Dome, Basement, Sheriff’s Residence and the 1870-1900 jail. When the building was completed in 1870, a Sheriff’s residence was part of the structure. Sheriffs and their families lived onsite from 1870 until 1962. Visitors will have a chance to see where the sheriff lived and learn about the sheriff’s wife and her many duties. Participating Stillwater businesses will have a sign in front of their store or restaurant.
