Leo’s Grill & Malt Shop is located right on Main St. in downtown Stillwater and was recently featured in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. New owners Cory & Naashom Buettner bought the malt & grill shop that used to be called Lily’s, and also Darla’s, about nine months ago. Cory was a former general manager at Michael’s frozen custard in Madison, Wisconsin. When he and his wife moved to Stillwater, they started looking at spaces where they could sell frozen custard. His father, Leo, was their inspiration for buying Lily’s. He and his father had stopped in for lunch one day and his father said that if the space ever became available, they should jump on it.
A month after his father passed away, Cory found out the owners were looking to sell. He snapped it up and named it Leo’s after his father. The space is too small to add frozen custards, so they are sticking to burgers and malts. Cory recommends their “Mucho Leos” burger topped with spicy jalapenos and chipotle mayo as well as their Muddy Banana sundae which includes vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, Oreos, and sliced bananas for dessert.
