There are a lot of great activities and events happening this weekend! The White Pine Festival finishes up tomorrow. It is an interdisciplinary arts festival held each summer in the St. Croix Valley. The final performance will be from Miro Quartet and poet Matthea Harvey at 4:00pm in Trinity Lutheran Church here in Stillwater. Matthea Harvey was the winner of the prestigious 2009 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. He will be working together with the Miro Quartet interweaving music and poetry in three different ways and will feature the debut of a new multi-part work by Harvey. The cost is $15/$10
Tomorrow also marks the last day of Theatre in the Rounds’ production of Agatha Christie’s “Unexpected Guest”. Their final performance will be a matinee at 2:00pm. After a dense fog forces his car off a remote road in Wales, a stranger finds his way to an isolated house – where he discovers a woman standing over the body of her husband, with a gun in her hand. In a daze, she confesses to the crime. But the unexpected guest is not convinced, and the estate is soon brimming with suspects, clues, and intrigue in one of Christie’s finest mysteries. You can experience this wonderful mystery from a whole new perspective with Theatre in the Round’s unique arena stage, where the audience surround the action. Its 246 seats are only seven rows deep, so no seat is more than 30 feet from center stage!
Monroe Crossing is playing at Festival Theatre tomorrow as well at 2:00pm. It is truly bluegrass at its very best, treat yourself to a high energy, instrumentally superb concert that you’ll never forget. With fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo and bass backed up with tight vocal harmonies, Monroe Crossing gets audiences smiling with the first notes. Join Monroe Crossing at the Festival Theatre in St. Croix Falls, WI. Tickets are $30.00 at the door.
